Taiwanese pop singer, Angela Chang ran into contact woes with her ex-recording company when she terminated her contract with Linfair Records in 2011. Angela subsequently joined Wonderful Music and made a comeback with her new album last year.

However, Angela reportedly had not settled her contractual disputes with ex-recording label. Yesterday, Linfair Records and her previous artiste management company, Qingtian have sued Angela for NT34.65 million of compensation for breach of contract. Angela did not turn up at the court, but her lawyer emphasised that Angela did not breach the contract. The court hearing will be scheduled on 2 April 2013.

Angela and Qingtian management company signed a 10-year contract. Qingtian, in turn let Linfair manage her singing career. In 2011, Angela fell out with Linfair and Qingtian when she expressed that she was shortchanged of her remuneration. Hence, she terminated her contract with both companies. There was also rumour that she was unhappy with Linfair for giving little support on her family scandal. At the height of her career in 2008, Angela fell out with her parents over monetary issues.

According to Linfair and Qingtian, Angela’s 10-year contract stipulated that she had to cut an album every year. Angela has only cut 6 albums with Linfair and she has not fulfilled the number of albums in the contract and does not accept any performance arrangements. Qingtian reportedly will seek NT8 million and Linfair will seek NT26.65 million of compensation from Angela.

Recently, Angela posted a message on her Weibo and wrote, “It will be okay in the end”.
