Taiwanese singer, Annie Yi got into hot soup recently for her insensitive remarks on late Hong Kong singer-actress, Anita Mui.

In an interview, she said that she was leading a blissful life, and had fulfilled her self-worth. She also cited the late Anita Mui in the interview,” “If you fulfill your self-worth first, then it’s very tragic because your career has reached the peak, and then, you will end up like Anita Mui. She had been looking for love in her entire life. She was so thin at the end, and she wore a wedding gown on stage. We can’t reverse our lives.”

Many netizens have criticised Annie after her interview surfaced. She has also posted an apology on her Weibo and recalled her interaction with Anita Mui.

“When I was in Hong Kong developing my career, Anita Mui treated me very well. She told me before that the happiest thing in life was the person you loved, loved you too. My words did not reflect accurately my intention, hence I am sorry about it. I have deepest respect for her, and I am very grateful to her. I won’t forget it. I am very sad too.”

In addition, Annie was also criticised for dissing on Ning Jing‘s fans comments on her Facebook. Ning Jing is her co-star in ‘Sisters Who Make Waves’ (乘風破浪的姐姐). She also clarified that the replies were not written by her.

“My social media account is handled by my good friend. Earlier, I told her to stop responding in this tone. When I saw this in the morning, I was speechless.”

She also uploaded a video of a phone conversation with her friend, and questioned her on why did she respond fans in this manner. Her clarification did not make matters better. Instead, many netizens felt that she was merely pushing the blame to her friend.
