Yesterday, Carina Lau celebrated her 49th birthday in a grand fashion at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
The theme of the party was “Glamorous”, and the venue had a backdrop of 50-pound notes with Carina in a crown, which signified her ushering into a 50th year.
In the past, Carina would celebrate her birthday in a low-key manner. This year, she was advised by a geomancer to throw an elaborate birthday party before she turns 50.
Being well-loved within the showbiz, many big names including Faye Wong, Cherie Chung, Rosamund Kwan,Vicki Zhao, Liu Xiaoqing, Chen Kaige, Jackie Cheung, Chingmy Yau, and Eric Tsang attended the party. While many expected Faye to turn up with her beau, Nicholas Tse, she attended the event alone.
Carina wore a classic black and white dress that she had had worn it to the Golden Horse Awards in 1995 when she attended the ceremony with Tony Leung back then. After 19 years, Carina wore it again and now, Tony was still by her side. The dress also signifies their long-lasting relationship.
Like a little girl in good mood, Carina was seen swirling in the dress during the photo-taking. She later changed into a sexy red gown.
Carina thanked her friends and the media for attending her birthday celebration and said on stage, “Although there was sunshine, there was storm as well. Thank you for walking through with me and make me a stronger person. This is the most glittering moment of my life. I hope to use my 49 years of experience to welcome my future.”
