50-year-old Lawrence Ng announced divorce with his 29-year-old wife Shi Yang Zi last year. Rumours have been circling that after divorce, Lawrence has been travelling to Macau every week to gamble.
Recently, Lawrence was spotted at a casino in Wynn Macau. Despite being recognised and photographed by the patrons, Lawrence continued to gamble. Lawrence initially was on a winning streak, but after raising his bet, his luck began to change. Lawrence then switched over to another casino at MGM Macau.
After losing a few rounds, Lawrence looked upset and even threw his card on the table. He reportedly lost stacks of thousand dollars chips at the casino.
After returning to Hong Kong the next day, Lawrence reportedly headed to a restaurant and booked a room for mahjong session. The next day, Lawrence headed to another mahjong session after attending an event.
Lawrence has revealed before that he had come from a gambling family. His 90-year-old grandmother had died of heart attack during a gambling session. He and his brother were also fond of gambling since young.
A source said that after Lawrence’s daughter was born, he had cut down on gambling. It was only after his divorce that he had started to gamble again.
Lawrence has since dismissed the gambling rumours and said that his gambling at casino was just for entertainment purpose. “I will not gamble my entire savings away. Gambling away millions of dollars will never happen to me. I am just gambling for fun.”
When asked if it would affect his image, Lawrence said, “I have experienced all these. I had these experience when I was young. I will never gamble everything away.”
