After performing at the grand final of “The Voice of China”, A-Mei’s (张惠妹) dramatic weight gain has been a talking point at various online forums.  Recently, a plastic surgery hospital even used her swollen figure to publicise its slimming services.

A-Mei’s figure viciously mocked

At a concert in Zhuhai, fans spotted that A-Mei had lost some weight. Her manager disclosed that the singer had been working out regularly on a treadmill. However, performing at Wuhan a week later, A-Mei has put on weight again.

Netizens heavily mocked A-Mei, and some websites even headlined, “A-Mei’s big butt and elephant legs are eye catching and fight for attention with the male dancers.”

Plastic surgery hospital uses A-Mei as publicity

A plastic surgery hospital in China posted on its Weibo a picture of A-Mei at her recent concert. The photo captioned, “A-Mei has become a synonym of fat. There are many girls like her who used to fit into S size but later have to switch to XL size….. We suggest that you consider Liposuction to lose weight, it is effective and fast.”

A-Mei’s manager responded that the hospital’s marketing statement was a slander and infringement and will take legal action against the hospital.
