Many rumours have been flying over the divorce of Faye Wong and Li Yapeng.
Some tabloids reported that Yapeng’s infidelity is the cause of their divorce; others reported that Faye’s estranged relationship with her mother-in-law is the cause. Speculations also arise if it was Yapeng’s massive investment losses that put a strain on his marriage.
For the first time, Faye spoke up on her divorce and even defended her ex-husband.
On her micro-blog, Faye said, “The divorce is my decision. It has nothing to do with any third party, mother-in-law, or money. This is not a soap opera. We separated peacefully, but we are still a family.”
Recent reports said that Faye was determined to become a nun after her divorce. She dismissed the rumours and emphasised that she would not become a nun and her charity unit, Smile Angel Foundation which was co-founded together with Yapeng will continue to function.
Gaining the support from his ex-wife, Yapeng was touched and immediately responded on his micro-blog too, “My child’s mother, I will always love you.”
