On 8 February 2013, Jacky Wu was involved in an assault case involving an undergraduate, Chen Yufeng while having a supper with Elva Hsiao, Kai Ko and Cheryl Yang.

According to Jacky’s statement, he thought that the group of undergraduates were paparazzi and hence kicked off a quarrel. It turned ugly when Jacky and the undergraduate started to exchange blows. Elva, Kai and Cheryl were not involved in the assault as they were in the noodle house when the fight occurred.

Subsequently, Jacky stated that he would counter sue the three undergraduates for causing serious injuries to him, but would withdraw the lawsuit if the other party did so as well. However, the undergraduate insisted to sue Jacky and criticised him for not being sincere in settling out-of-court.

On 7 May 2013, there is a twist of the lawsuit when Jacky and Yufeng finally closed the chapter with a reconciliation. Both parties attended a court session and both smiled and hugged after walking out from the court.

Jacky also made a public apology to the Yufeng and read his statement to the press.

“I was the one who started hitting student Chen Yufeng during the incident and he did not hit me at all. My earlier comments to the media have caused a misunderstanding and resulted in a bias media coverage. I apologise to student Chen Yufeng for causing distress to him.”

The Taiwanese host will also not pursue any charges on Yufeng for inflicting injuries on him. Jacky said that he and Yufeng realised they had a mutual friend during the reconciliation and would arrange for a meal together with the friend.

Asked if he would offer incense at the temple, Jacky replied humorously, “No, but I thought of going to the church. I am a Christian and you actually ask me to go temple!”
