A man who is said to be Kai Ko’s cellmate during his detention recently revealed to the media about Kai’s life in the detention centre.

According to the statement of Kai’s cellmate, the Taiwanese star had “celebrity treatment”. Other than wearing the convict uniform on his first day of detention, Kai was not required to wear the uniform for his remaining detention days.

Unlike others who had to shave their heads, Kai did not need to shave his head and was even allowed to smoke. He also did not need to wash his own clothes unlike the rest of his cellmates.

His cellmate said, “He is a celebrity and had special privileges. He could smoke everyday and shave his face, but the others were not allowed!”

There were around 20 people in a cell, and about 5 to 6 of them had to share a plank at night to sleep. Only Kai was allowed to have a plank to sleep by himself.

Kai’s cellmates were also warned by the officers that they could not “bully” him during his detention.

“We were all warned that we could not bully Kai Ko. He received special treatment during his stay, and his meals were quite good as well.”

Although his cellmates were reminded not to bully him, Kai was occasionally teased by them. His cellmates would sometimes shout at him, “Kai Ko, I love you.”

Kai is said to ignore their teasing most of the time and was expressionless when he was teased.

The 23-year-old was released at midnight today and is expected to hold a press conference this afternoon.
