Taiwanese singer Leehom Wang and pianist Li Yundi have been romantically linked to each other for the past one year. Fans of both camps have been echoing for the duo “to get together”. Declining to respond to the romantic rumours all these while, Leehom finally broke his silence and shouted on his Weibo, “I am heterosexual!”
Leehom and Yundi became close friends after collaborating at the CCTV New Year’s Gala last year. The duo later performed together Leehom’s song, Falling leaves return to roots <落葉歸根> at the Beijing and Hong Kong concerts in April and Septemeber last year.
The hype of their romantic rumours occured when netizens spotted Leehom and Yundi holding hands in a group picture with A-Mei. At the recent New Year’s eve countdown show in Beijing, Yundi once again performed Falling leaves return to roots. During his performance, his pictures with Leehom were flashed at the screen and sent the audiences into a frenzy. All the audiences shouted for them “to be together,” and interpreted as the “artist’s love confession”.
Yesterday, Leehom finally broke his silence for the first time and addressed the rumours on his Weibo.
“I initially did not wish to write this post as it is simply ridiculous! But there have been so many news, so I decided to address this issue if not others will be misled,” wrote Leehom.
“I am heterosexual and Yundi also likes women. So what is Homdi? Perhaps it is only a joke and a piece of entertainment news. I hope that everyone can differentiate between the truth and trash! Sorry, I am a straightforward person. I still value the truth for news related to me”.
