Rumours are circulating that Raymond Lam will be leaving TVB to set up his own artiste management agency.
Raymond was said to be upset after losing the Best Actor award at 2012 TVB Anniversary Awards to Wayne Lai. Since then, he has focused his career in filming movies and mainland dramas, appearing less in TVB dramas.
These days, Raymond also accepted jobs without informing TVB in advance. Earlier, he insisted filming for NowTv’s drama, Da Wei Xian Hou Wei Fu Zi <大漢賢后衛子夫>. He also agreed to guest star in Raymond Wong Pak-Ming’s lunar near year movie, Hello Babies <六福喜事> without informing TVB first.
A source said that Raymond is already planning for his working studio. He expressed to his friends that since he would be returning to help out his family business in a few years, he would rather set up his own agency to keep his earnings. Raymond reportedly earns HK$400,000 per episode now. His agency’s first business will be a mainland love movie featuring himself and Chrissie Chau.
Besides bringing with him his manager Candy, Raymond reportedly is planning to poach Kate Tsui and Tavia Yeung over to his agency. Tavia’s contract with TVB is ending soon, and till now, she has not confirmed her renewal.
Raymond’s contract with TVB will be ending in March-April. Currently filming The Apostle <使徒行者> with Charmaine Sheh, this could be his last drama with TVB.
