Sire Ma has a smooth sailing career until her lesbian love scandal with mainland businesswoman, Wang Ziqi.

Sire had initially accused the tabloids of making up her relationship with Wang, but a video of the pair kissing in public surfaced. Shortly after, a businesswoman Laura Lee accused Sire of breaking up her relationship with Wang.

After being “frozen” by TVB for a month, Sire accompanied by her mother and TVB Executive Virginia Lok spoke to the media yesterday.

Speaking about her denial of her relationship with Wang initially, Sire cried and said, “After the report came out, I was scared and nervous. I didn’t know what to do, so I used inappropriate attitude and language to respond on this issue.”

After a month of reflection and advice from friends, Sire was clear about what her direction in life. “I know that I was willful and my behaviour had hurt people around me, especially my family. I am very certain about what I want now. I want to pick up my work again. Everything has ended. It’s over.”

Asked if she was referring to her relationship with Wang, Sire said, “Everything has ended. I have left everything behind.”

When probed if she had broken up with Wang, Sire said, “It’s over.”

She would not think about any relationship for now, but would not resist the same sex relationship. “I respect true love. True love transcends beyond gender, age and social status.”

Sire said that ending the relationship was purely her decision and had nothing to do with the public’s discrimination.

“It has nothing to do with others. It’s solely my decision.”

Asked if she was worried that her image was damaged, Sire said, “I have not thought about it, but I have already hurt my family’s image, so my image will not be any better. As a public figure, I will be mindful of my behaviour in future.”

Sire will resume her work , and will perform in a segment in the Tung Wah Charity Show tomorrow night. She has also been nominated as the Best Supporting Actress category in the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards and will also attend the ceremony.

Virginia Lok said that Sire had immediately apologised to her after meeting her yesterday. Ms Lok said, “We need to give some time for the young people to cope with situations. From a company’s perspective, we will definitely give her opportunities.”
