In recent years, TVB has been facing a shortage of siu sangs and fadans as many had left the station to seek better opportunities in China. In order to face the new competition in the Hong Kong television industry, TVB is planning to roll out blockbuster dramas which feature big names to retain its audience.

Eric Tsang earlier announced that he had persuaded Tony Leung Ka-Fai to return to TVB. It is understood that Tony will collaborate with Michael Miu and Raymond Lam in a 30-episode blockbuster drama!

TVB will also invest vast resources in the drama which will be filmed in Vietnam sometime in September. The female lead is not confirmed yet as the producers are still looking for a suitable and ‘heavy weight’ actress to star alongside with the movie superstar.

The newly crowned Best Actor at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards may increase his fee after clinching the award recently. TVB has not officially negotiated with Tony, but said that it will offer him a “reasonable fee”.

Asked about Tony’s fee in the new drama, TVB production director Tommy Leung (梁家樹) said, “We have not discussed about the fee yet, but Tony is helping us out this time. We still have to offer him a reasonable fee.”

Michael said that he had discussed the new drama with Tony at Eric’s birthday party a few days ago. Michael said, “He is my junior [at the TVB acting class] and I wish to work with him too. However, Tony’s schedule is very tight and we may have to delay the filming.”

Raymond, who is in Hengdian currently, is excited about collaborating with his idol, Tony. However, Raymond said that it was still not confirmed if he was going to star alongside with Tony.
