After 10 years, TVB launches the sequel of its blockbuster series, Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II> and it has successfully captured 99% of the Hong Kong viewers on its premiere night.
The attention is on the two veteran actors, Chilam Cheung and Francis Ng who both lends their star power to the series. 41-year-old Chilam is still as dashing as ever and immediately wins the hearts of many female viewers, playing the role of a handsome and flirty pilot. Unlike Chilam, Francis appears with a despondent and messy hair image, but the 51-year-old star still draws his pool of fan followings.
The first episode opens with 32 points of ratings and even peaks at 35 points two nights ago! This is TVB highest ratings so far and breaks Wong Cho Lam’s, Inbound Troubles <老表,你 好嘢> of 31 points of average ratings.
Chilam was happy over the ratings and said, “I just did my best and hope that the good ratings will continue.”
Many viewers have compared Chilam and Francis roles in the series and it seems that Chilam is more likeable. Chilam said, “Please do not say that. The ratings are not just based on one person’s efforts. It is a team work. ”
When responding on his messy hair look, Francis said, “As the series has not portrayed me returning to be a pilot, the producer hoped to show the difference by messing up my hair first.”
Francis is also pressurised about the good ratings and worried that the ratings could not be maintained.
When being told that Chilam has overshadowed him in the first episode, Francis said light-heartedly, “I leave the premiere to him. It will be my turn soon!”
