Chinese actress, Yang Mi has filed a police report over circulation of an explicit video that has damaged her reputation.

Recently, a video of a woman suspected to be drug raped was circulating on the web, and Yang Mi was unfortunately linked to the video. Although Yang Mi’s agency has issued a legal statement and urged the public to delete the related video, the clip is still being circulated like wild fire.

Yesterday, Yang Mi made an official police report at the Chaoyangmen police station in Beijing.

“As a public figure, we are lucky to have certain influence in the society. However, this kind of influence is being used as a malicious propaganda, and even as a way to earn profits illegally. This isn’t just about targeting at me personally, but it is also a very evil scheme. I don’t want to see any fellow artistes in the showbiz to suffer such a plight in future. Hence, I wish to stand out and work with the police to prevent similar cases from happening and to safeguard our rights through legal means,” said Yang Mi.

Yang Mi’s husband, Hawick Lau also supported his wife on his Weibo and urged the public not to believe the rumours and also to stop circulating the related video.
