After winning the Best Leading Actor and Actress awards in Singapore last month, Ruco Chan and Nancy Wu are once again crowned the TV King and TV Queen in Malaysia.
TVB Star Awards Malaysia 2016, a prelude to Hong Kong’s TVB Anniversary Awards, was held last Saturday at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands.
Martial arts drama, A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄> was the biggest winner, snagging big awards like Favourite TVB Drama, Favourite TVB Actor, and Favourite TVB Actress.
Ruco thanked his Malaysian fans on stage after he was announced as the TV King winner. He said, “I was not able to thank my fans personally last year. This year, I am here so I would like to thank my Malaysian fans. My two grandmothers were born here. I am very surprised that I am able to win this award again this year. I would like to thank someone too. No matter how much setback I have, she will always be by my side. Thank you mummy!”
When Nancy heard her name being announced as the TV Queen award, she hugged Ruco before going up on stage. Receiving her trophy in tears, she said, “I love hearing the applause of Malaysian fans. The applause I heard today was what I have saved up all these years. I first attended this award ceremony was in 2010. For the past 5 years, I have to thank my colleagues for introducing me to Malaysian fans, and let them know who is Nancy Wu. I am happy that I am able to attend this ceremony every year and receive various awards such as the newcomer award, supporting actress, and last year, I am able to share the Best Actress award. I promised my fans that I would rely on my own ability to get onto this stage. Thank you everyone for liking this character Tiu Lan. Thank you Ngah Lo (Benjamin Yuen), Kuen Lo (Ruco Chan) and Philip Ng and my fitness coach.”
My Favourite TVB On-Screen Couple award has two winners. Ruco and Nancy, together with Vincent Wong and Tracy Chu won the awards. The host, Dodo Cheng requested the winning couple to kiss before going up on stage, and all eyes were on rumoured couple, Ruco and Nancy. In the end, both Ruco and Vincent completed the kissing mission.
For the My Favourite TVB Actor and TVB Actress in a Supporting Role, Mat Yeung and Joyce Tang won the awards for their roles in My Dangerous Mafia Retirement Plan <火线下的江湖大佬> and House of Spirits <一屋老友记>.
